Annotated Bibliography Week 8

I am beginning the process of choosing what web engine to use for my final project.  Additionally, I am researching websites for visual examples of what direction I want to go in for the audience I would like to reach. Finally, the book The American Way of eating, is one of the titles I researched this week, for the scavenger hunt.  This book seems very interesting and although full to the brim with information, appears to be an engaging read.

“Pick the Website Template You Love.” Website Templates. © 2006-2014 Wix.com, Inc, 2006. Web. 01 Mar. 2014.   The Wix template is the one I have decided to use.  The Wix website is fluid, self explanatory to users, easy to create on and navigate. I plan to have video interviews via face to face and on face time. The Wix template functions well in this capacity.    Image

“Al’s Journal.” AlGore.com. N.p., n.d. Web. 27 Feb. 2014 http://www.algore.com/

The Al Gore website, we, is saturated and dense with writing, visuals, links and information for all levels of interest.  I will most likely use this website for information on climate change and personal responsibility.  Al Gore considers himself a “PR” for the planet. He believes that his influence and impact is on the leadership of the country. That if he is successful, change will occur in the policies that effect personal and global behavior. I believe he is a strong example of one person making a difference.      Image

McMillan, Tracie. The American Way of Eating: Undercover at Walmart, Applebee’s, Farm Fields, and the Dinner Table. New York:     Scribner, 2012. Print.

When I researched this title for the scavenger hunt, it was very intriguing and I wanted to read it for my research as well as for personal knowledge. Tracie McMillian’s blog, http://traciemcmillan.com/blog/, contains articles, news and updates on books, similar to her position.  One of her blogs, in particular, was very interesting to me,  http://traciemcmillan.com/articles/admit-it-cooking-isnt-fun/.  The blog was funny and truthful.  McMillian stated, “The second myth is that cooking is easy”, while this may not connect in an obvious fashion to my thesis, I feel that the association to personal responsibility is clear. Doing what is responsible for the environment needs to be easy, and the information delivered in a quick, trendy fashion in order to influence change.
